HALF-TIME!
Whenever
we see “Half-time” our minds immediately shift to a sporting event. Yes, some
team sports such as football, soccer and rugby are played in two halves. After
half-time, teams swap ends of the field of play, in order to reduce any
advantage that may be gained from wind or a slope to the pitch, for example. While
it exists mainly to allow competitors to rest briefly and recover from the play
of the first half, half-time also serves as an intermission for spectators,
which often features entertainment, performances and commercials.
Well, we all are participants in the biggest game of all
“The Game of Life”. The month of June is history and we have definitely
completed “Half-time” moving along in the first few days of the third
quarter. I believe I can say, while some may not agree with me on this but
while some have been busily participating in the course of their lives there
are others who sat in the bleachers waiting and watching to see what happens
next
God has
given each of us 60 seconds in one minute, 60 minutes in one hour, 24 hours in
one day, 7 days in one week and 52 weeks in one year. He has given us one body
to care for, believe it or not. What we put into our bodies is equally as or more
important than what we put on our bodies. Make a conscious effort today to start becoming good stewards of the treasure God placed within us. Eat well, Love well, Live well and Be well!
Last time I updated this blog was 7/7/2013; it is now 7/15/2013 and we exactly in the middle of July. What an awesome month! If you have not done so already, why not spend a few hours to REFLECT, REEVALUATE
and RENEW.
REFLECT: Having past the half-way mark, take
a moment to reflect inwardly and outwardly. Retrace your path from the first
day of the year to now; what do you see? Are you satisfied or dissatisfied? Do
you feel you could have done less or more? What areas can you improve upon?
REEVALUATE: It is good to periodically step
aside and assess our progress or failure.
We
sometimes are guilty of not taking time out to evaluate our situations again
and again. With everything that goes on around us, it is so easy to lose focus
on important goals, whether it’s weight loss, exercise, reading the Bible, praying,
helping others, making more money, etc Now don’t beat yourself up, just make mental
notes. You cannot turn the clock backwards but you can redeem the time going
forward.
RENEW: After reflecting and reevaluating it’s time
to make some changes. To renew is to make new or as if
new again; restore. We are aware that when we restore an object or resume a
task it requires more energy. Change is never easy! So pull up your sleeves and renew your commitment
to the thing that you are passionate about. Lets move with diligence during the last half of 2013. It might mean taking that class you've always wanted to or brainstorming with a coach or a friend; whatever it is, you know. I know you can do whatever you put your mind to! The wise man Solomon wrote “A
gift gets attention; it buys the attention of eminent people.” Proverbs 18:16 (The Message Version)
